Birthday Blast Recap

We had so much fun for C's birthday. We've created some fun family traditions that really make it special for the birthday kiddo. C got to choose breakfast, lunch, and dinner on her birthday, and one of those meals could be at a restaurant. She knew she wanted dinner to be "out" but struggled to decide between Chili's and Chick-fil-A. (Augh, the dilemmas of a 6 year old.) She went with Chick-fil-A so she could share play time with the whole family. (Each Wednesday morning, Andy takes one of the big girls on a Daddy-Daughter Date to Chick-fil-A. They love it, but are sad that there usually aren't any kids to play with on the super cool indoor play place. She thought it would be a lot of fun to be able to play with her brother and sisters. How sweet.)

Her breakfast request was chocolate covered doughnuts. (Thank you Dad for making the early morning run to Meche's.) Lunch was "circle pizza" aka Bagel Bites. And finally, she really, really, really wanted a carrot cake, rather than the usual cookie cake. (Sounded good to me - and it was!)

The birthday stash of goodies.
The big gift - a "kick-stand" bike. The real deal.Breakfast of champions.
My 6 yr Birthday Girl.
C chose to open this package first.
A new dress-up outfit! She had to put it on right away.
Gift #2: As soon as C opened the box, she squealed "Easy shoes!"
She now knows how to tie her shoes, but it's still a slow process.
We enforce practice by making her tie her own shoes.
These don't tie. She's beyond thrilled and has yet to take them off.
Don't fret. I'll find more creative ways for practice time.
C loves her new purse, complete with a little bear.

Quite possibly her favorite gift - a new baby doll. I asked C what she wanted to name her new baby, and she said, "Cutie Pie."

C trying out her new bike - her new 20" bike. Yeah, kick-stand bikes don't come in small. Daddy had to teach her how to push off the pedals to get started, then sit. Go C go!

We ended the night with an old Shirley Temple movie, Heidi. The kids loved it, black & white and all. What a perfect day.
