Monday morning we woke to Nana preparing Adult First Breakfast. (That's what I'm talking about!) It was followed by a lazy morning, soaking up the warm sun. The weather was so perfect, that after positioning my chair in the sun's rays, I still had to borrow a light sweater! I think I may have even dozed off a bit, thankful for a fenced-in backyard.
After a yummy lunch (thanks again to Nana who slaved in the kitchen all morning), the kids went down for a nap. Aauuhhh ....
After nap we attempted to take a dip in the swimming pool. It was FREEZING! Like, ice cold freezing. So cold that the leader of the family, who greatly encouraged all of us to put on our swimsuits, dipped one toe in the water and backed away for good. Of course the kids didn't find it too cold to swim. I made it in waist deep and managed to stay there until little J decided she was ready to jump off the diving board. Really?! Today of all days?! Off to the deep I swam, shivering. The pain we endure for our kids. As we were drying off, C complained of her jaw being sore. At least I wasn't the only one shivering.
Back at Nana's we thawed out on the deck with watermelon. (Yes, my kids ate the whole watermelon!) I can't imagine a better Labor Day.
a bird ... a plane ... I really have no idea. |
