Finger Sucker?

Well it looks like we might have another thumb sucker. C was the only one to use a pacifier. The others chose their thumbs. M and J were right hand thumb suckers. A likes his left.
So this is nothing new, except that E is sucking her fingers. I don't know if this will last, or if she's still trying to figure it all out. We shall see.

Grocery Day!

Grocery shopping is far from my favorite task. I go early in the morning before the kids wake up. The workers at the store are usually stocking the shelves, and aren't too happy to see me. There aren't too many of us crazies shopping before the sunrise. So since the task is right up there with scrubbing toilets (which I probably like better), I do major grocery shopping twice a month. For a family of seven, that means a trunk full.

I get home right before the girls wake up, and I wait until they are awake to help unload all the groceries (minus the bread). They are such a big help! They carry the bags to me in the kitchen, and I begin putting things away while they make their trips back and forth. Then when the bags get too far to reach, C climbs into the trunk and hands the bags to M and J.

I don't know what I would do without my little helpers. I couldn't make it.

White Squirrels

C and M woke up first from naptime. I was keeping them quiet by talking with them. We got on the topic of PawPaw which led us to talk about heaven. C asked, "Mom, what is heaven like?" I started explaining to them what the Bible says about heaven, including the gates made of pearls. I said, "And there are gates made of white pearls!"

Right about that time, J came into the room. She was a little grumpy, just waking up and thinking she had missed out on all the fun. So to ease her into the conversation, I said, "J, we've been talking about heaven. M, would you like to tell J one thing you learned about heaven?"

M's response: "Sure Mom. J, it's super terrific. Heaven is the best place ever. It's perfect. And they even have gates made of white squirrels."

Oh the fun.

We found a frog!

And the girls were so excited! They had so much fun playing with the frog. They would touch his back, and he would jump. I'm sure this is froggy torture, but it was so much fun!

Bathing E

E is funny with bath time. She loves to take a bath. She could stay in the tub all day. But sometimes I am in a hurry, and we need to take a quick bath. She hates a quick bath! If I lift her out of the tub before she thinks she's had enough time to enjoy it, she screams her head off. Obviously this picture was taken after a long bath - a 30 minute soak with Mommy. She just experienced baby heaven and her face shows it.

A loves Baby E

A loves his baby sister. Anytime she cries, he looks around to find her. And when he can reach her, he tries to comfort her. Here he is trying to bounce her in her chair. Sweet boy.

Learning to Color

C is such a help with her little brother A. She gets him dressed, puts on his shoes, and comforts him when he cries. And today I caught her teaching him how to color! I walked into the playroom and found this. How precious! This is the first time A has colored in the playroom, and he's doing a pretty good job. A little later when I returned to hang some more clothes in the closet, A got up from the table to come see me. I had my back turned to him, but heard C say, "No no A. If we have a crayon in our hand, we need to sit at the table. Let's put the crayon away if you're ready to get up." She sounded just like me!! I'm so blessed to have such a mature, helpful little girl.

How fast they grow

Babies change daily; they grow so fast. E has changed so much already. Today she went for her 2 month well-baby check up. The doc says she's doing great!

She got her first round of immunizations -- 3 shots and a liquid to drink. She did so well. The nurse was impressed how quickly she stopped crying. She screamed while the needle was in her thigh, but stopped as soon as the poke was complete. I'm so proud of my little girl. She's such a sweetie.

Bath Fun

I think we have too much fun around here. Love it!

And I'm cherishing 4 in a tub moments. It won't last much longer. We're getting pretty tight on space already. And it won't be long before C and M are ready to wash all by themselves.

She sleeps!

E is sleeping through the night! From day one, we begin training our babies to sleep through the night, and it has really paid off. All of them have been able to transition to a 12 hour night by 2 months. This is huge, because not only do I love my sleep, but I need my sleep!

E's doing really well, sleeping 7pm to at least 7am. I can't stand to leave her past 7:30 in the mornings. I just have to go check on her and make sure she's okay. And many mornings I find her wide awake, just looking around. She's very happy after a good night's sleep.

And most mornings she's naked from the nipples up. Somehow she wiggles herself out of her gown and blankets to the top of the bassinet. I think I would wake up screaming of discomfort, but it works for her.

As she works her hands up the sleeves, she grabs hold. She's been holding this grip for quite awhile because the sleeve is wrinkled and sweaty. And as you notice in the picture, she doesn't let go. I have to force her hands open. Usually her outfit is so stretched out that she has to get a new one.

E says hello

E is 8 weeks old today and doing fabulous! She is so much fun! She reminds me of C in that she really enjoys interacting with people. She loves listening and cooing with Andy. Do we have another social bug who loves being around people?

How'd that happen?!

See the little red bump on E's nose. Yes. It does look like a little scratch. This happens all the time with infants since they don't quite have control of their limbs. BUT, this isn't a little scratch. The skin is not broken, but a little blood vessel must be. I was holding her. She sneezed, and a little red dot appeared. Can you break a blood vessel by sneezing?

Sorry for the close up, E. It's not your best look.

A's Fort

A has found a new place to play. We've had this table (2 of them actually) for all the kids, but noone has ever used it for a fort. Yep. He's a boy, and I'm so proud of him for doing boy things. Sometimes I am a bit concerned that he spends more time in tutu's than playing in the dirt. Go A! Have fun in your fort, my little man!

Cute Little Tongue

E was making faces, and I was able to capture her cute little tongue. How sweet.
