SNOW!

Being a big fan of weather reports, I was already looking forward to the possibility of some early morning snow. The report was that we could possibly see a few snow flurries, but not much, and it certainly wouldn't stick once it hit the ground.

Boy did they get it wrong this time! There was honest to goodness snow all over Lafayette Thursday morning!

As I was heading to the grocery store, I was thrilled to see snow on the ground. So thrilled that I pulled back into the garage and ran tell Andy it was snowing. He came out, and we enjoyed the peacefulness of it all. Since it was still early, we didn't hear the shouts of excitement from neighborhood children, or see footprints and snow angels. It was just a calm, white moment.

But as I drove to the store I noticed it picking up a bit more. As I got to the store, it was really coming down. So much so that by the time I got inside I had to shake it off of me. And when I came out, the car was covered!

It felt like it took forever to get home because I wanted to rush home to the girls, but snow was already accumulating on the road. And with my lack of experience with winter driving, slow was probably too fast. I knew that as soon as I got home I would get the girls dressed and race them outside to see the falling snow. This was a moment we couldn't pass up so we had to act fast.
The girls met me at the door in their PJ's with cries of "It's snowing! It's snowing!" We dressed as quickly as a 2, 3, and 5 year old can, complete with layers and hats. Then we rushed out to experience our rare snowy day.

The girls had a blast! Of course their little hands dove into the white, pillowy fluff not expecting to feel the pain of bitter coldness quickly. We got gloves down from the attic, and they were at it again. We played for as long as their cold, wet hands allowed.

As we were coming inside the girls informed me that they needed "warm, fresh, hot chocolate" for breakfast. After warming up with pancakes and hot chocolate, they were out again. By this time it had stopped snowing, and it was beginning to melt. They went immediately for their picnic table to bite into the layer of fluff. What fun!

Andy got better pictures with his camera, but I have no clue how to transfer them from camera to computer. I'll post them later.
